‘Dream Girl’ directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushratt Bharuccha in the lead was released in 2019 and became a huge hit with a total collection of 139 crores at the box office.
Now, the sequel ‘Dream Girl 2’ has been released today which stars Ayushmann Khurrana alongside Ananya Panday replacing Nushratt in the second part. In a recent interview, the first part lead actress shared her emotions on not being cast in the sequel.
Ayushmann Says
Talking about on same during the promotion of the film, in a recent interview Khurrana was asked the same question. To which he replied, “This is an organic sequel to Dream Girl. We had to cast a different film, and Ananya fit the bill. I think she is very spunky and adds value to the film. The way she has taken the accent in the film, the Mathura accent, is very commendable. It was fun working with her and I would love to work with her in the future as well.”
And the time when Nushratt Bharuccha expressed her disappointment, in an interview with a leading portal she said, “I was a part of Dream Girl 1 and I love that whole team. I terribly miss working with them. But why they didn’t cast me in Dream Girl 2, I think only they can answer. I don’t know, there is no logic and there is no answer to it. But why didn’t they cast me? I am a human being, so of course it hurts. And of course, it feels unfair. But I get it, it is their decision. Cool, no problem.”
‘Dream Girl 2’ released on 25 August 2023 starring an ensemble cast that includes Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa in the pivotal roles. Helmed by the same filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa under Balaji Motion Pictures, the film is receiving mixed reviews.
