Mark Margolis is a well-known 83-year-old Hollywood actor born into a Jewish family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to New York City at the age of 19 with the dream of pursuing an acting career. He survived with 61-year-old wife Jacqueline Margolis (née Petcove), the only son Morgan H. Margolis and three grandchildren.
Mark Margolis dies at 83
And on 3 August 2023, Thursday, Mark Margolis left heavenly abode after a short illness in Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, with his wife and son at his bedside, according to a statement.
Mark Margolis was famously known for his role in the highly-acclaimed series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, in which he played the character of sinister, wheelchair-bound cartel Don Hector Salamanca.

The American crime drama television series saw him as the patriarch of the drug-smuggling Salamanca family, who suffers a stroke after being poisoned by a rival – is only able to communicate by tapping a bell with his finger and this performance earned him a nomination at Emmy Award in 2012.
By praising and giving tributes to the actor, the official Instagram account of Breaking Bad said, “The immensely talented Mark Margolis, who – with his eyes, a bell, and very few words – turned Hector Salamanca into one of the most unforgettable characters in the history of television.” And the series actor Bryan Cranston through his account wrote, “I am very saddened today to learn of a friend’s passing. Mark Margolis was a really good actor and a lovely human being. Fun and engaging off the set, and (in the case of ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Your Honor’) intimidating and frightening on set.”
Also, Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk called Margolis a “powerful screen presence.”

Mark Margolis was also famously known for his portrayals in the films of director Darren Aronofsky, appearing in his first six films beginning with Pi (1998). Noting his acclaimed supporting roles in Scarface, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Black Swan, as well as the HBO series Oz.
