There are many zombie apocalypse films out there, but Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, starring Cillian Murphy from 2002, stands out as a cult classic. Five years later, it even got itself a sequel titled 28 Weeks Later and is now set to return for a threequel. The first poster for 28 Years Later, the third instalment of the 28 Days Later series, just drops with a tagline that has fans gasping.
Director Danny Boyle and Writer Alex Garland revealed that while 28 Years Later is the third instalment in the series, it will be sprouting into a trilogy of its own. While not much is known about the two follow-up movies, a lot has been revealed about 28 Years Later.
For starters, Irish Actor Cillian Murphy will return to reprise his role as Jim. He will also be taking up producer duties for this film. This coming-of-age zombie movie will pick up the story from where the last film left. The poster confirms Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes to star in this film. The film has been in production since May this year and is shot completely on an iPhone. The poster also has a cryptic tagline that says, “Time didn’t heal anything.
The Poster:
During an interview, Fiennes shared a bit of a synopsis, where he said, “Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. It centres on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother. He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them, hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might think is going to be weird and odd but is a force for good.”
28 Years Later is produced by Sony and is expected to hit the theatres by June 20, 2025, if there are no delays in the production.
