Kantara: Chapter 1 Unites 15+ Actors from Diverse Industries

Kantara, a film organically created by 15+ diverse actors from ages 13 to 63 across five countries, is becoming the talk of the town. With its release on Netflix and nationally on Apple TV, this film has the unique power to bridge cultures through its genre-defying message, accessible to a Global Audience.

Set in the Middle East and the USA, Kantara follows the story of three generations of a fractured family, whose paths converge dangerously under the same umbrella. Through this story, we understand the root of our global struggle with identity, assimilation, and inter-generational systems of power. 

The unique multi-cultural cast gives audiences a chance to experience the human lives of a diversity of characters and their conflicts coming from not only different countries but from different walks of life. Kantara’s message is that no matter where we come from, we are more alike than we think. 

The cast includes 15+ actors from seven countries (including Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Egypt, Bangladesh, the US, and Canada) in a glorious mix of diverse ages and industries, including acting, writing, stand-up comedy, and music. 

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar plays the lead role, accompanied by Jordan's rising actor and singer Ala'a Tabbaa, Australian-Egyptian writer and director Amro Najeeb, Tunisia’s first-time film director and multi-talented rapper Anas Ben Saïd, and Jordanian stand-up comedian Moayad Ghroub. From Palestine, we have actress Salma Masri, acting alongside Sanaa Yassin, Egypt's top actors and producers Amro Tayel and Basema Mohamad, and Academy Award-winning director Sameh Zoabi. 

Kantara speaks to all and unites us in its purpose of examining the world with a fresh and positive perspective.
