The official remake of Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha, which is also the first film of Aamir Khan after a gap of 4 years, Laal Singh Chaddha has received good reviews from audience as per BookMyShow.com
Unfortunately, the film has opened on a low note which is shocking considering the star power of Aamir Khan. The film picked up towards the evening and night shows slightly, bringing the first day figure to Rs 11.70 crore where as the trade expectation was more than 15 crore. The comedy drama dropped on the second day with Rs 7.26 crore followed by some growth on Saturday with Rs 9 crore and Rs 10 crore on Sunday. The Independence Day holiday should have made the collection trigger an escalation but surprisingly the film fell down to Rs 7.80-8 crore, bringing the 5 days total to around Rs 46 crore from 3533 screens across the country while the budget is Rs 180 crore.
The Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai collaboration, Raksha Bandhan, has also met the similar fate as it dropped to Rs 5.75 - 6 crore on Monday. Inspite of promotion and good reviews as per BookMyShow. After opening with a disappointing Rs 8.20 crore, Raksha Bandhan will be bringing the 5 days total to somewhere between Rs 34 crore. The budget of Raksha Bandhan is Rs 115 crore.
