Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan disappointed big time at the box office on first day, shocking the entire film fraternity.
Directed by Advait Chandan, who earlier made Secret Superstar, the much awaited Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha opened to weak result on its first at the box office. The official remake of Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha, which is also the first film of Aamir Khan after a gap of 4 years, Laal Singh Chaddha has received good reviews from audience as per BookMyShow.com
Unfortunately, the film has opened on a low note in the range of 15-17% in the morning shows which is shocking considering the star power of Aamir Khan. The film picked up towards the evening and night shows slightly, bringing the first day figure to somewhere between Rs 10-12 crore where as the trade expectation was more than 15 crore. The comedy drama has extended holiday period to make some impact while the budget is Rs 180 crore.
The other release of the week is the much awaited Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai collaboration, Raksha Bandhan, also met the similar fate Inspite of promotion and good reviews as per BookMyShow , opening has been low with just 15% occupancy in the morning shows. Like Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan picked towards the later part of the day, bringing the first day closure to somewhere between Rs 7-8 crore. The budget of Raksha Bandhan is Rs 115 crore.
