Panchayat 2 Review - More Lovable Characters Makes It "A Must Watch" Drama

The first season of Panchayat, which premiered in 2020 was widely recognized and made the TVF's creation extremely popular. Obviously, the makers had to adhere to the fan's demand and release the second season which is fun-loving and nostalgic.

Thanks to the OTT platform, small town stories have become the flavor of the season. While movies and web-series have made audience adore the simplicity of these places, the culture followed by locals with no flashy and grandeur sets makes it real enhanced by situational comedy to watch since you might never know what will come next and the surprise element that will make you laugh-a-loud. This is where Panchayat 2 scores which has similar setting like the season 1. The season 2 also introduces us to Rinky, daughter of Pradhan, whom Abhishek meets at the water tank in the climax scene of season 1 and then there is Vinod and his family (we also have Sunita Rajwar a.k.a Bittu Ki Mummy from TVF's Gullak series) who is always at the loggerheads with Dubey family.

Panchayat 2

Like the season 1, the sequel is intrinsic to its core right from the beginning with hilarious moments enough to tickle your funny-bone. While the story is just the continuation, it is introduction of new characters which just adds flavor to the sequel. The direction is impressive handling many sequences with perfection. There are couple of scenes that will bring down the house, the chemistry between Rinky and Abhishek is interesting. Technically, the cinematography capturing the beautiful locales of an Indian village while art Direction is simple yet powerful. Dialogues are punching while background score goes well with all the 8 episodes.

While Panchayat will keep you on your toes, few things do disappoint you - Neena Gupta's character could have been better sketched out, comic scenes in season 1 is missing in sequel. Nevertheless, writing by Chandan Kumar is brilliant which should be lauded while the editing is tight. Technically, the cinematography capturing the beautiful locales of a small town while art direction is simple yet powerful. While I would recommend to watch the Season 1 to get the feel of village life, Season 2 does have emotional and heart-warming scenes.

Performances of Panchayat is the highlight of the web-series. Jithendra Kumar is complete natural and uplifts the mood of season 2. Raghuvir Yadav, Chandan Roy as Vikas and Faisal Malik as Prahlad Pandey adds more weight to the drama. New characters - Pooja Singh as Rinky convinces in her simple role while Durgesh Kumar as Vinod is superb along with Sunita Rajwar.

Panchayat 2

Panchayat 2, overall , has the right intention with a good social message which should be the top choice for this weekend. Very good 3.5
