When you have two talents – Rajkumar Santoshi and Ajay Devgn coming under the same roof, you know what to expect from the film based on the life of Bhagat Singh. Interestingly, on the same day and on the same topic, the Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol starrer 23rd March 1931 Shaheed was released which was directed by Guddu Dhanoa. Earlier, the hit jodi of Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini – Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol were supposed to work on the Bhagat Singh biopic but due to different mindset, both parties went separate ways to depict the life of the martyr.

Major Review – Every Indian Should Watch The Brave Story Of Sandeep Unnikrishnan

Talking about Rajkumar Santoshi’s The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, the biopic drama turned out to be best film among three as it received noteworthy praise for commendable direction by Rajkumar Santoshi, perfect background score and songs composed by A.R.Rahman, beautiful art direction by Nitin Chandrakant Desai , eye-catching cinematography by K.V.Anand and smart editing by V.N.Mayekar. The dialogues by Ranjit Kapoot, Piyush Mishra, Anjum Rajabali and Rajkumar Santoshi himself were solid and punching.  Songs like “Des Mere” and “Sarforishi Ki Tamanna” were beautifully written by sameer.

Coming to the performances, no one could have performed the legendary Bhagat Singh better than Ajay Devgn. The supremely talented actor nailed it perfectly as the role of freedom fighter who was calm yet rebellious, subtle yet fierce, passionate and patriotic. He was equally supported by Sushant Singh as Sukhdev, D.Santosh as Rajguru and Akhilendra Mishra as Chandrashekhar Azad.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani under the TIPS films production, The Legend Of Bhagat SIngh could not do well at the box office but has gained a cult status over the years. Currently, it holds a rating of 8.1 in IMDB.com from 14k users. The Legend Of Bhagat SIngh  went on to win two National Award – Best Actor for Ajay Devgn and Best Feature Film.
