There were two significant Bollywood films which were released today at box office in the past years – Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Manisha Koirala starrer Kachche Dhaage and Sonam Kapoor and Shabana Azmi starrer Neerja.

Kachche Dhaage was the directorial debut of Milan Luthria, who became famous later for delivering continuous hits like The Dirty Picture, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai and Taxi No.9211. Set at the backdrop of Rajasthan, Kachche Dhaage tells the story of a drug-smuggler, Aftab (Ajay Devgan) and his step-brother, Dhananjay (Saif Ali Khan). Though the film received mixed response from the critics, audience loved the film, especially the well-executed action scene filmed on a moving train. The chemistry between Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgan was nice while Manisha Koirala and Namrata Shirodkar added the glamour quotient to the masala entertainment. At the end of the day, Kachche Dhaage turned out to be “Hit” at the box office, collecting Rs 16.19 crore against a budget of Rs 10 crore.

Sonam Kapoor, for a change, does justice to the powerful character of Neerja Bhanot. The actor looks and gets into the character which shows her honesty. Shabana Azmi, playing the mother of Neerja Bhanot, gives an electrifying performance. She will definitely let you shed some tears with natural acting. Neerja was gritty and realistic cinema which should be lauded for its sheer effort. The biopic drama opened to a fabulous response across India with critics and audience giving it a thumbs up. As a result, the movie turned out to be “Super-hit” at the box office, minting a solid Rs 71.76 crore against a budget of Rs 28 crore.
