A Thursday will bowl you over with a stupendous performances and an important message which is very much required in current scenario
A Thursday tells the story of a kindergarten school teacher Naina (played by Yami Gautam) who is enjoying a great life with her fiance. The scene changes when all of sudden Naina kidnaps 16 kids in her playschool along with a maid and driver and demands to meet the PM of India if her demands are not met.
From critical acclaim film, Blank, Behzad Kambata gives an engaging race-against-time thriller which keeps on your toes right from the beginning till the end. A Thursday (and not a sequel to Neeraj Panday’s Wednesday) spares no moment and takes you to dive into the event that changed the lives of many people involved in the event. Scripted by Behzad Kambata and Ashley Lobo, A Thursday has couple of moments which are hair-raising – Naina shooting the first hostage, the rape scene and a stunning climax which might even give you goosebumps. On the flip side, second half slides down which could have been better managed with scenes like PM of India taking a poll to decide her next move. But crispy screenplay compensates for that. Art direction and cinematography is splendid. Background score gels well with the mood of the film.
Yami Gautam completely surprises with her brilliant portrayal of Naina Jaiswal. The brilliant actor sheds her charming and bubbly image and transforms into a role of a rape victim who demands justice at any cost. Atul Kulkarni, Neha Dhupia and and Dimple Kapadia lends a good support.
