The film promotion, first-time pairing of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt (though their pairing was loved in Make My Trip ads) and the occasion of Valentine’s Day helped Gully Boy break the record to become the highest opening Bollywood film on this special day with Rs 19.40 crore.

5. Roy (2015)
Roy had everything going in its favor – strong cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernanzdez, solid pre-buzz and good music. The mystery thriller opened well during the Valentine’s Day weekend with a solid Rs 10.40 crore at the box office.
