The film promotion, first-time pairing of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt (though their pairing was loved in Make My Trip ads) and the occasion of Valentine’s Day helped Gully Boy break the record to become the highest opening Bollywood film on this special day with Rs 19.40 crore.
2. Gunday (2014)
A story of friendship, love and betrayal, Ali Abbas Zafar directed Gunday and starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan, entertained the audience to the core. Gunday opened to an overwhelming response at the box office, collecting a smashing Rs 16.12 crore on its first day.
3. Jolly LLB 2 (2017)
The prequel 2013’s Jolly LLB was a major hit which featured Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani and Saurabh Kapoor. The second part, Jolly LLB 2, starring Akshay Kumar was bigger in terms of budget with its share of fun elements and drama around it. Jolly LLB 2 was the only solo release of the week in 2018 and came in the perfect time where people would love to go for comedy and fun-loving story. Also starring Huma Qureshi, Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor in key roles, Jolly LLB 2 received solid reviews, and opened well with Rs 13.20 crore on its first day.
