Indian Team Owner Arrested amid Match-Fixing Scandal at Lanka T10

Thakur's arrest came after a complaint was filed by a West Indian player, his teammate against him who had rejected his request to manipulate a match.

An Indian national, who owns a franchise in the Lanka T10 League, got arrested by Sri Lanka’s sports police on the charges of match-fixing.

Prem Thakur was taken into custody on Thursday in relation with match-fixing during the Sri Lanka T10 League, which is being held at Pallekele Stadium in Kandy’s central district.

"The owner of the 'Galle Marvels' team in the Lanka T10 Super League was apprehended and will be presented in court on Friday," police officials further confirmed.

The Galle Marvels are one of the 6 teams competing in the tournament.

Thakur's arrest came after a complaint was filed by a West Indian player, his teammate against him who had rejected his request to manipulate a match.

Authorities are currently looking into the matter, which has raised concerns over the credibility of the inaugural Lanka T10 competition. 

This is the very first edition of the Lanka T10 Super League.
