British Singer Adele recently expressed excitement about watching Wicked, even though she does not like musical films. The comment comes a day after the film was released in theatres that stars Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey.
The phenomenal singer expressed how she is not a fan of musicals but respects it as an art. She said, “I really don’t like musicals. And don’t judge me; I think it’s an art, I think it’s a craft, I think it’s absolutely phenomenal, it just doesn’t do anything for me.” However, she is excited about Wicked because she believes that the marketing campaign for the film worked for her.
“But whatever this ‘Wicked’ press campaign is going on. I am gagged to see it… This is absolutely crazy cause I didn’t like the musical itself — I don’t like any musicals — but it’s working, and their marketing campaign has worked. It has worked on me,” she said.
Wicked is a musical based on the Broadway Musical of the same name, launched in 2003. The film adapts the first act of the musical, directed by John M Chu, that dives into the backstory of Elphaba, the wicked witch of the West, in the world of Oz.
