New show on Netflix 'Guns & Gulaabs' is creating buzz on internet through its 90s black comedy thriller action sequences. the show is multistarrer which includes Rajkumar Rao, late actor Satish Kaushik, Dulquer Salmaan and Manuj Sharma in titular roles.
In an exclusive interview with PopDiaries Media Manuj opened up on his experience working with studded cast, his reaction to the show & nuances of the OTT world:
What was your reaction when 'Guns And Gulaabs' came to you?
It was a whole different world, it has 90s theme, teenagers track, cop investigation & underworld is too involved in it and that's makes this script so excited and I really wanted to be part of this world. Like I really wanted to go in the world where there are no phones there are only tape recorder send songs are playing on it and truly that world is beautiful in itself.
You have an upcoming show with an ensemble cast and 'Guns and Gulaabs' too has a studded star cast; how was your experience working with them and sharing screen space?
See all the actress has so good and that's what you need to be your co-star a good actor. You can't pull of anything on your own. You get to do different things you get to learn unique things about acting and its a fun altogether. It's like a platter, it's a big thing that you are joining hands with so many big actors.
In this growing ott world, do you think for an actor the quantity of the role is important or is it always the quality and how you look at it?
I think the character your playing should be "yaadgaar and not lamba" (it should be memorable). As an actor you have to think of what new stuff you can bring to the table in whatever role your playing. Quality is always important rather than quantity.
Do you think OTT Content should have some authenticity while showcasing different genres to sustain among audiences?
No, I don't think so, first of all many of the famous OTT shows in India are not really authentic and censored and still they are applauded by the audiences. And that's why the OTT is different cause the directors and actors can easily express their thoughts or experiences over here and that's the actual fun. If you go with a specified format on any platform you'll miss the fun for real. I think every story has its own audience or atleast find its own audience somewhere.
