Manu Bhaker Comes Fourth in Shooting, Narrowly Misses Bronze Medal

On August 3, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker narrowly missed winning a historic third medal and finished in the fourth place in the 25m pistol shooting event at the ongoing Paris Olympics.

The 22-year-old shooter finished in fourth place and earned 28 points in the eight-women final, narrowly missing out on achieving a hat-trick of medals in the Olympics 2024. She was defeated by Veronika Major of Hungary who won the bronze medal.

After the competition, Manu expressed her disappointment for not winning a medal but stays optimistic for the future. In conversation with a media portal, about her performance in the finals, Manu said, "It could have been a little better, but there is scope for improvement." She further added, "I gave everything I have, I tried my best."

When asked about loosing on the bronze medal, Manu said it is not a good position to be in. When asked about the great performances of other athletes at the Olympics, Manu said, "I'm so happy India is making a mark at the games." She added, "If you keep supporting all the athletes, we will do better."

Manu Bhaker made history by winning two bronze medals at the Olympic games- one in the women's individual 10m air pistol event and another alongside Sarabjot Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Manu Bhaker now joins the list alongside PV Sindhu and Sushil Kumar, who have also won two Olympic medals.
