Sports Minister discloses sum invested in Manu's training

After Manu Bhaker secured a historic bronze medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised the shooter for her victory and highlighted the dedication and financial investment in her training.

Bhaker clinched the third position, securing a bronze medal in the Women's Air Pistol event final on Sunday. She made history as the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. Following her victory, Mandaviya told ANI, "Manu Bhaker has brought immense pride to India by winning the first bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. During her interview, she mentioned her participation in 'Khelo India'."

"Approximately Rs 2 crore was invested in Manu Bhaker's training. She underwent training in Germany and Switzerland. Financial support was provided to facilitate her choice of coach. We are extending this support system to all athletes to ensure optimal performance in national and international competitions. I am optimistic that our athletes will also excel in the Paris Olympics," he concluded.
