In a major step to boost defense cooperation and strengthen military relationships, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is preparing to host its biggest multilateral exercise yet, called 'Tarang Shakti.' Set to happen in August and September 2024, the exercise will bring together air forces from multiple countries. 'Tarang Shakti' will focus on improving coordination and mutual understanding through a series of advanced aerial drills and missions, marking a significant moment in India's military diplomacy.
Officials have shared that while 51 countries were invited to join the 'Tarang Shakti' exercise, nearly 30 are expected to participate. Air forces from the US, the UK, Germany, France, Australia, and other nations will be involved, but Russia and Israel, both key defense partners of India, will not take part.
Air Marshal AP Singh, Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS), mentioned that the exercise will highlight India’s defense capabilities and support its goal of becoming self-reliant in defense. He confirmed that 10 countries will bring their own assets, 18 will observe, and one more country might join, making it a 30-country event including India.
