According to the police, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) hired the driver on contract from December 1 but did not provide the necessary training. Police retrieved the footage from the CCTV cameras within the bus to identify passengers and use their testimonies as eyewitnesses for the case.

The police also reported that after the accident, the mob gathered on the spot and assaulted the driver out of anger. To avoid the frustrated mob, the police have been dressing up the driver in the constable’s uniform when moving from one police station to another.

The accident happened in Mumbai’s Kurla West. The electric bus on Route 332 rammed into at least 30-40 vehicles because the driver pushed the accelerator instead of the brakes near the crowded railway station. It ended up stopping when it collided with the wall of a residential society. The police investigation in this accident is in full swing.
