The number of casualties in the incident of BEST bus tragedy in Kurla West, Mumbai increased to seven people as forty two others sustained injuries on Tuesday, according to the authorities.

The incident took place on Monday night when a bus knocked down pedestrians and other vehicle on SG Barve Marg said the police. The BEST bus that was on the route to Andheri was out of control. In its report, BMC said that it ran over 30-40 vehicles over the 100-meter stretch and damaged its RCC column of the Solomon Building, busting its compound wall.

Sharing details with the media after more than five hours of the accident, the BEST said “as per the initial information, the driver lost control of the bus”.

The transport body said that several vehicles were either dragged or damaged during the accident and that the speed accelerated after the driver lost control of the wheels. The bus driver identified as Sanjay More has been held according to the officials. Three persons were killed in the crash and their bodies were taken to Bhabha Hospital nearby the scene , officials said on Monday night. 

Rescue operations were quickly carried out, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident.
