Nine pedestrians were injured in Mumbai's Lalbaugh area when a BEST bus lost control after a drunk passenger grabbed the steering wheel, destabilizing the vehicle following an argument with the bus driver. In addition to the pedestrians, the bus also collided with other cars and two-wheelers before the driver managed to regain control. Among the damaged vehicles were two bikes and a car.

The incident took place on an electric bus operated by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), the transport wing of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The bus, on Route 66, was traveling from Ballard Pier in south Mumbai to Rani Laxmibai Chowk in Sion.

According to an official from Kalachowki police station, the drunk passenger, in an intoxicated state, got into a heated argument with the bus driver. As the bus neared Ganesh Talkies near Lalbaugh, the situation escalated when the passenger grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve off balance. The police have taken the intoxicated passenger into custody, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
