Billionaire Elon Musk, posted a tweet talking about how Neuralink, a company he co-founded, should make a brain chip that eases neck and back pain.
Neuralink is a company responsible for developing Brain-Computer interfaces that can be transplanted onto a human brain. The company has so far conducted two Brain Chip transplants, both of which were successful. The first patient was named Noland Arbaugh, who now controls computer devices remotely. The second patient is Alex, who is right now in recovery. After the success of both operations, Elon Musk is confident that his Neuralink technology can revolutionise the medical field.

After being posted, it gathered 80 lakh impressions along with around 10 thousand comments. The post has created a lot of excitement but gathered equal amounts of criticism. Netizens believe that if Neuralink achieves this, that will be monumental progress in the field of medical science. One person wrote, “This would be life-changing and help put an end to big pharma's hold on pain management.” "Neuralink is gonna be huge. Will it be able to fix things like hearing/vision also," said another netizen.
However, there is also criticism where the brain chip’s ability to ease pain is said to be a step towards behavioural control. They believe this technology will be used to spread propaganda, and ideology and control human actions to a large extent.
