Air India’s CEO, Campbell Wilson came forward to address this issue, “There are a lot of circumstances that lead to this – technical issues with the aircraft, technical issues with the ground handling units that are supplied by third parties, the capability of the air conditioning at the airport, the temperature in Delhi, and the wish of some people not to travel. So, whether it's better compensation or better communication, there are things that we can learn to do better.”

A similar situation occurred with SpiceJet, where passengers who were travelling from Delhi to Srinagar had to wait inside a plane without the air conditioning (AC) for over an hour during the heatwave, which caused sickness among many passengers. The passengers were also allowed to deboard, and walked on the Delhi airport tarmac to cool off, which is against the rules and caused a security risk.
