Raut mentioned that the conversation took place during the foundation stone laying of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur, where PM Modi was speaking with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, the leader of the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena said, “PM Modi went to the RSS office to announce his retirement. As per my knowledge, he has never visited the RSS headquarters in 10-11 years. RSS wants change in leadership. PM Modi is now leaving.”
"RSS will decide the successor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he will be from Maharashtra. That's why Modi was called to Nagpur to discuss it in a close door meeting," added Sanjay Raut.
A Congress leader also weighed in, saying that he agrees with Sanjay Raut. I think what he said is right. They retire people who cross 75 years. PM Modi is also ageing, so maybe they are thinking about retirement now. He must have gone there to make them happy… RSS is a terrorist organisation and formed organisations like VHP and Bajrang Dal,” As per news Congress leader Husain Dalwai on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s remark.
On Sunday, PM Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, becoming only the second sitting Prime Minister to do so. The first was Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who visited the headquarters in 2000 during his third term as PM, according to an RSS official.
During his visit to Nagpur, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an extension building of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute & Research Centre. The new center is named after the late RSS chief Madhavrao Golwalkar. While in Nagpur, PM Modi praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), describing it as the "vatvruksh" (banyan tree) of India’s enduring culture and modernization, emphasizing that its ideals and principles are aimed at safeguarding the national consciousness.
He acknowledged the selfless work of RSS volunteers across various sectors throughout the country, according to news reports. Modi further stated, "This large vatvruksh is not an ordinary one," highlighting the RSS's deep connection to service. Founded in 2014 in memory of the late RSS chief Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar, Madhav Netralaya continues to carry his legacy forward.
