Kim Soo Hyun Completely Edited Out of South Korean Show Amid Kim Sae Ron Controversy

Kim Soo Hyun's latest TV appearance has been entirely scrapped following ongoing backlash over his alleged past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

Weeks after the producers of MBC’s variety show Good Day announced plans to minimize the actor’s presence in upcoming episodes, they’ve now taken it a step further. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, Kim Soo Hyun was “completely edited out” of Sunday’s broadcast, despite filming his scenes weeks prior.

The actor had participated in a group recording of “Telepathy,” a 1988 hit by City Boys, and was also part of a celebrity auction segment. However, none of these made it to the final cut. Even during a segment led by 2NE1’s CL—where Soo Hyun was originally seated at the center of a group shot—producers digitally altered the image to remove him entirely.

Another part of the show featured G-Dragon’s voice directing scene and individual clips from cast members like Yim Si-wan, Code Kunst, Jung Hae-in, Hwang Kwang-hee, Jo Se-ho, and DAY6 members. But Kim Soo Hyun was noticeably absent from these clips as well.

The move to erase the actor’s footage follows a March 13 filming session, which took place amid growing criticism linked to his alleged past relationship with Kim Sae Ron. At the time, the production team shared their stance: “We decided to edit out Kim Soo Hyun’s appearances as much as possible. Additionally, the individual recording session involving the cast member on March 13 will not be aired.”

Last month, Kim Soo Hyun broke his silence during a press conference where he denied ever dating Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. He also rejected claims that he or his agency, Gold Medalist, contributed to her death. The actor questioned the legitimacy of the KakaoTalk messages from 2016 and 2018 that were reportedly released by Sae Ron’s family.

Since then, Kim Soo Hyun has filed both civil and criminal lawsuits, seeking ₩12 billion KRW (approximately $8.2 million USD) in damages.
