Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency Faces Severe Financial Collapse Amid Controversy

Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo Hyun, is reportedly on the brink of financial collapse following a series of damaging allegations and legal battles stemming from the Kim Sae Ron controversy.

The agency has been rocked by accusations that it attempted to extort money from Kim Sae Ron after her DUI incident and amidst claims that Kim Soo Hyun dated her when she was underage, which he vehemently denies. This controversy has led to a cascade of consequences, including the loss of over 20 endorsement deals and the withdrawal of advertisements by many brands.

Sources close to the matter reveal that Gold Medalist, once holding reserves between ₩2.00 billion KRW to ₩3.00 billion KRW, is now facing severe liquidity issues. Reports indicate that the agency has even taken drastic measures such as suspending contracts with external cleaning services to cut costs.

An industry expert familiar with Gold Medalist’s financial situation commented, "It seems the company’s funds have run dry." Prior to Kim Soo Hyun's recent press conference addressing the allegations, the agency needed to secure approximately ₩6.00 billion KRW in damages, highlighting the severity of their financial strain.

Before the press conference, I heard they needed to come up with about 6 billion KRW in damages. Recently, they even halted their contract with an external cleaning service. If that’s true, layoffs among employees might not be far off.”

The decision to pursue a ₩12.0 billion KRW damages lawsuit against Kim Sae Ron’s family and GaroSero Research Institute has further compounded legal and financial uncertainties for Gold Medalist. The lawsuit seeks to address the financial losses allegedly incurred due to the controversy.

Kim Soo Hyun himself hinted at the agency’s precarious position during his emotional press conference, expressing regret over the toll the controversy has taken on his career and the agency’s operations. "I wondered how things might have been if I held a press conference at the beginning of it all to clarify everything," he stated, alluding to efforts to protect both his career and the agency from collapse.
