The actor, visibly emotional, began by extending apologies to all affected by the controversy. "Firstly, I am sorry. Because of me, so many people are suffering. And I feel sorry that the late actor isn’t able to rest in peace," he expressed, as translated by Korea JoongAng Daily.

Reflecting on his past actions, Kim Soo Hyun candidly admitted to prioritizing his public image over personal integrity, acknowledging himself as a "coward." "I have always been too preoccupied with holding on to what I have. I couldn’t even trust the goodwill that came my way, always fearing loss, harm, and running away, denying everything," he confessed.

Addressing the specific allegations, Kim clarified his initial denial of his past relationship with Kim Sae Ron, citing concerns for the drama "Queen of Tears," in which he was the lead actor. "When the drama was airing, I had so much to protect. What would have happened if I had admitted to a yearlong relationship?" he pondered, empathizing with the impact on the production team and his agency's employees.

Despite the controversy, Kim Soo Hyun maintained that his relationship with Kim Sae Ron had been consensual and ordinary, aside from their shared profession as actors. "Except for the fact that both of us were actors, our relationship was like any other ordinary couple. We dated with good feelings and, after some time, broke up," he asserted.

Kim Soo Hyun's lawyer, Kim Jong-bok, confirmed the initiation of legal proceedings against Kim Sae-ron's family and Hoverlab, the operator of Garosero Institute. "Kim Soo Hyun and Goldmedalist have requested the law firm to pursue both criminal and civil litigation to ascertain the truth," Kim Jong-bok announced.

A lawsuit seeking damages totaling 12 billion won has been filed with the Supreme Central District Court, underscoring the seriousness with which Kim Soo Hyun intends to address the allegations against him. "The filing of a criminal complaint is an ongoing issue under investigation," Kim Jong-bok clarified, explaining the decision not to entertain questions at the press conference.
