Brad Pitt Races Back to the Big Screen with High-Speed Drama F1
Brad Pitt is set to make a thrilling return to cinemas with F1, a fast-paced Formula One drama directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick. The film will hit theatres worldwide on June 27, 2025, and is already generating buzz for its realistic portrayal of the world’s most elite motorsport.
In F1, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver from the 1990s who returns to the racing scene decades later. Haunted by a career-ending crash, Hayes makes a comeback to mentor a young rookie, played by Damson Idris, for the struggling APXGP team. Their dynamic forms the emotional and competitive core of the film, blending themes of redemption, rivalry, and legacy.
The film’s supporting cast includes a powerhouse lineup: Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Sarah Niles, and Samson Kayo. Notably, seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton joins as a producer, ensuring authenticity and a behind-the-scenes perspective on the sport's intricacies.
What makes F1 even more immersive is its production style. Filming took place during real Grand Prix events, including at Silverstone and Las Vegas, using specially modified Formula 2 cars that mimic the appearance and performance of F1 vehicles. High-tech camera rigs were mounted on the cars, capturing the speed and danger of live racing like never before.
With a reported budget between $200–300 million, F1 is shaping up to be one of 2025’s biggest cinematic spectacles. Distributed by Warner Bros. and set to stream on Apple TV+ after its theatrical run, the film combines adrenaline-fueled action with a powerful human story.
Whether you're a motorsport enthusiast or a fan of intense character-driven dramas, F1 promises a cinematic experience at full throttle.
