‘Housefull 5’ Opens Strong with ₹23 Crore on Day 1; Bigger Day 2 Expected Amid Eid Boost
Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited comedy entertainer Housefull 5 has kicked off its box office journey on a high note, collecting approximately ₹23 crore on its opening day. This marks a powerful start for the fifth installment of the franchise, surpassing the Day 1 collection of its predecessor, Housefull 4, and setting a new benchmark for multi-starrer Bollywood comedies.
What’s adding intrigue this time is the film’s unique storytelling twist — it has been released in two versions, Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B, each with a different ending. This innovative approach, coupled with the franchise’s brand value, has led to solid occupancy rates across major metros and tier-2 cities alike. While critical reviews have been mixed, audiences seem to be enjoying the high-energy humor, ensemble cast performances, and signature chaos that the series is known for.
The star-studded lineup includes Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff, all of whom bring their comedic timing and charm to the screen. Their chemistry and comic rhythm have added to the film’s mass appeal, attracting a broad audience base including families and youth.
Looking ahead to Day 2, expectations are high. With the film benefiting from the Eid holiday, trade analysts predict a significant jump in collections, with projections suggesting that Housefull 5 could inch closer to the ₹50 crore cumulative mark by the end of Saturday.
With a production budget reportedly in the ₹200–225 crore range, the film needs to gross around ₹220 crore domestically to be considered a hit. Given the strong start and festive momentum, Housefull 5 appears well on track to become one of the top earners of the year if it sustains its performance through the weekend.
