During Holi celebrations in Cuttack, a 25-year-old interior designer, Prakash Sutar, accidentally shot and killed his friend, Bikash Mohanty, while under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred after a dispute over spilled liquor during a carrom game. Believing his pistol was unloaded, Sutar pointed it at Mohanty as a joke and pulled the trigger, fatally shooting him. Police have taken Sutar into custody as investigations continue.

In a tragic incident in Cuttack on Saturday, a 25-year-old interior designer fatally shot his friend while under the influence of alcohol, mistakenly believing his pistol was unloaded. The victim, 35-year-old Bikash Mohanty, was also an interior designer. The accused, Prakash Sutar, has been taken into custody by the police.

Cuttack DCP, Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, said, "Both the individuals were engaged in Holli festivities and playing carrom while consuming alcohol. A dispute arose when Mohanty spilled alcohol on the carrom board. Sutar pointed his pistol at the victim's head in what he claimed was jest. He pressed the trigger assuming the firearm was empty."

Police have taken Prakash Sutar into custody and launched an investigation into the tragic shooting of Bikash Mohanty. Authorities are examining how Sutar obtained the firearm and whether negligence played a role. The incident highlights the dangers of irresponsible firearm handling, especially under the influence of alcohol. As legal proceedings continue, officials urge the public to exercise caution to prevent similar tragedies.
