Indian cricket team with their massive fan following and expectations from fans all over the world are all set to enter ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 happening in India. Last time India hosted the World Cup in 2011 and gracefully lifted the trophy under MS Dhoni’s leadership. This year Rohit Sharma and Co. are hoping to break the losing streak after that and eyeing to lift the trophy for the third time.

After lots of ifs and buts Indian team has finally announced their 15-member World Cup squad. The major setback came as all-rounder leg spinner Axar Patel got ruled out from the tournament due to injury and was replaced by Ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who can be India’s mystery weapon on Indian pitches.

We looked into this team’s geographical data and we found that around 40 to 50% team is from the western parts of India, mainly from Mumbai & Gujrat while 40% of the team is from Northern side of India and 3 players are from southern side. The surprising fact is there is no player from eastern side of India in this current squad.

Captain and one of the senior opening batsmen of the team, Rohit Sharma is from Mumbai. He is actually famous for his ‘Bambaiya elements,’ like language, his love for Vada Pav & the team he leads in IPL. Though he was born in Nagpur he was raised in Mumbai.

Shreyas Iyer is one of the Mumbaikars in this team. He is born & brought up in Chembur, Mumbai in a Tamilian family. His ancestors are from Thrissur, Kerala.

Suryakumar Yadav- Mumbai

Suryakumar Yadav too is born and brought up in Mumbai. His father hails from Gazipur, Uttar Pradesh. Yadav has also represented Mumbai’s team in domestic career.
