Recently ICC Cricket World Cup got champions of their 13th ODI World Cup edition as Australia became the sixth time title winner team in the history of the tournament. This edition witnessed a lot of new milestones and wonderous outings by underrated teams and players alongwith some ghost like performances from countries which were one of the favourits to win the cup. We have made a playing XI which features the worst performers of the tournament, surprisingly these players are those who had maximum expectations and support from fans and cricket circles.
Batting Lineup- Temba Bavuma, Imam-ul-Haq, Najmul Shanto, Jos Buttler (C), Suryakumar Yadav
Temba Bavuma captain of tournament's one of the most successful team South Africa finds himself in the Worst XI for his low stats despite opening with Quinton De Kock who had his best World Cup outing ever. Imam-ul-Haq continued his bad form in the World Cup for Pakistan and couldn't give expectated starts to his team when needed the most. Same goes with Najmul Shanto, the young batter couldn't hold his nerves. Further England's captain Jos Buttler will lead our Worst XI, Buttler surprisingly had the worst performance both as a batsmen and captain. Suryakumar Yadav is our last batsmen in the team, though he had very few opportunities to show what he got but he couldn't create those chances into anything, probably one reason why India couldn't put a big total in the finals against Australia.
All-rounders- Shakib Al Hasan (VC), Liam Livingstone, Shadab Khan
We have three world class all-rounders in the team, Bangladesh skipper Shakid Al Hasan who will also be the Vice Captain following his unsuccessful campaign as a captain and all-rounder. Liam Livingstone and Shadab Khan were the other two players who had the highest bids & expectations but couldn't turn them into anything.
Bowlers- Haris Rauf, Mark Wood, M Pathirana
These Three bowlers, Rauf, Mark Wood & Pathirana had the worst performances in the tournament. Knowing all of them are one of the key players for their respective teams they could have made a bigger impact on the results their teams had in their campaigns.
Worst Playing XI: Temba Bavuma, Imam-ul-Haq, Najmul Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Jos Buttler (WC) (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Liam Livingstone, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Mark Wood, Pathirana.
