‘Welcome’ Iconic Characters Uday Bhai & Majnu Bhai Are Replaced From ‘Welcome 3'? DEETS INSIDE

2007 film ‘Welcome’ starring Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif and more created an amusing environment with its crime comedy genre that still continues to be on top in memes culture even after almost 16 years of its release. Through this Bollywood got its iconic characters Majnu Bhai and Uday Bhai.

Played by Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, were also seen in its sequel ‘Welcome Back’ (2015) but Akshay Kumar was replaced with John Abraham. Now, when the third part Welcome 3 officially titled ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has been announced reportedly Khiladi is coming back in his role while Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar have rejected to come on board.

According to the reports, when Taal actor was offered the role he demanded a massive fee of Rs 18 crore which didn’t go well with the producer of the film due to which after him, even Nana Patekar turned down the offer. So, Munna Bhai’s prominent duo Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi will be replacing them. 

The Source Says

As per the source of an entertainment portal, they quoted saying, “There can’t be Welcome without Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar. They were first offered the film, but the conversation soon fell through. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala got the shock of his life when Anil Kapoor demanded Rs. 18 crores to act in the film.”

Adding further, “Anil felt that Welcome is Welcome because of Majnu and the film will just get wider in the third part with the addition of Akshay Kumar. He felt that he deserved the money as the third part is a potential Rs. 300 crore film at the Indian box office and even he deserved the amount he asked for. He tried to put forth his point, but when Firoz refused, he willingly backed out of the film. Akshay Kumar also tried to intervene and get Anil on board, but Anil was stuck on getting Rs. 18 crores.”

And concluded stating, “Uday and Majnu are like Pav and Bhaji. There is no fun to eat either Pav or Bhaji and it makes sense only to have both components together. Once Anil backed out, Nana also took a backseat. Akshay and Firoz then decided to bring in Munna and Circuit in Welcome 3.”

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is set to release in next year’s Christmas 2024 and is reportedly helmed by Ahmed Khan. While the first and second part was directed by Anees Bazmee.
