Know About Epic Bollywood Star-studded Reunion in 'Om Shanti Om': How Shah Rukh Khan & Farah Khan Crafted Bollywood History with 'Deewangi Deewangi' Song?

In 2007, Bollywood witnessed the creation of an iconic moment in its history with the release of 'Om Shanti Om,' a film directed by Farah Khan and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in her debut alongside Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade, and an ensemble cast of 31 celebrities just for a song. The film, particularly the song 'Deewangi Deewangi,' not only captivated audiences with its music but also etched a historic moment in Bollywood that remains unforgettable.

The magic unfolded as stars like Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Govinda, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Karisma Kapoor, and many others came together, creating a visual spectacle that Bollywood buffs still cherish.

Farah Khan, the maestro behind this grand assembly, faced numerous challenges in orchestrating the star-studded affair. Once in an exclusive interview with Film Companion, she revealed the hurdles faced in convincing the stars to join the shoot. Notably, veteran actor Dev Anand declined the offer, citing his preference for lead roles only. Shah Rukh Khan took charge of convincing legends like Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, though, unfortunately, their participation did not make it to the screen. To entice the stars, Shah Rukh Khan generously gifted them goodie bags worth Rs 1 lakh, including watches, phones, and more. Actresses were privileged to keep the exquisite sarees designed by Manish Malhotra.

Despite the challenges, the result was a mesmerizing dance sequence where Salman Khan's spontaneous performance with Dharmendra became a highlight. Farah Khan shared that this impromptu moment, along with Saif Ali Khan joining in, added an extra layer of entertainment for the viewers.
