Actress Farida Jalal recently revealed her experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan in several films, and said that she was always very motherly towards him. She said that she genuinely felt the mother-son bond when working with King Khan, and since he didn’t have a mother in his life, she would always feel like she should give him more ‘mamta’.

In a conversation with Galatta Plus, Farida Jalal spoke about Shah Rukh Khan and said, “I had the opportunity of being with him in so many films. He was so full of life. I have never seen this kind of energy in anyone. I have enjoyed every moment of my journey with him."  Speaking about her motherly affection for King Khan, she said, “I have done so many films with him, played his mother. I really feel that feeling of a mother-son relationship with Shah Rukh. I really feel that, and since he didn’t have a mother in his life, so I used to always feel that I should give him more and more of all the ‘mamta’ I can. It would come naturally to me."

She also recalled meeting Shah Rukh Khan for the first time on the set of the 1992 film ‘Dil Aashna Hai’, which was among the first films he had signed. She said that he was a shy person, and kept to himself. She further added that she met a different version of him when shooting for DDLJ. “On the sets of DDLJ, he was a different Shah Rukh. Success does that to you also," she said.

Shah Rukh Khan’s mother Lateef Fatima Khan passed away in 1990. Last year, on the Locarno Meets podcast, SRK said he makes films big so that his parents from heaven could watch them. The actor added that he thinks his mother became a star in the sky. “My parents had passed away by the time I joined films; both of them were not alive. I don’t know, for some reason, I always felt I’ll make films that are very big, so that my mom and dad can see them from heaven." Confessing that it might sound ‘childish’, Shah Rukh said, “I still think my mom’s a star, and it works. I think I even know the star she is."
