After 11 years of marriage, Bollywood actress Esha Deol and her husband Bharat Takhtani have confirmed their divorce in a joint statement issued to Delhi Times. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, emphasized that their separation is amicable and that the well-being of their two children, daughters Radhya (6) and Miraya (4), remains their top priority.
In the statement, they expressed, “We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children are and will be of utmost importance to us. We’d appreciate our privacy being respected.”
Esha Deol, the daughter of Bollywood legends Dharmendra and Hema Malini, shared over a decade of married life with Bharat Takhtani. However, speculations about their divorce surfaced last year when Bharat was absent from family celebrations, including Hema Malini's birthday and Esha's birthday celebration.
In her parenting book 'Amma Mia,' published in 2020, Esha candidly shared insights into her marital life, revealing that her husband felt neglected after the birth of their second daughter. She acknowledged Bharat's feelings, stating, “I remembered the times when Bharat had asked me for a new toothbrush, and it had slipped my mind, or when his shirts hadn’t been pressed or when I sent him off to work without bothering to check what he’d been given for lunch. He’s a man of very few needs, and if I couldn’t look after him, there was something wrong.”
The couple's decision to divorce comes after attempts to reconcile differences, with Esha acknowledging the importance of keeping the romance alive in a marriage. Esha and Bharat urged for privacy during this period of transition, emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting their daughters with care and consideration for their well-being.
Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani's separation marks the end of an era for the couple, who shared more than a decade of companionship and family life. As they embark on separate paths, they aim to navigate this transition with dignity and respect, prioritizing the happiness and welfare of their children above all else.
