Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj could not live upto to the expectations however it was Major and Kamal Hassan’s Vikram posted a good revenue at the box office.
One of the most expensive film in recent times, Samrat Prithviraj opened on a slow note at the box office. The Akshay Kumar starrer showed promise on Saturday and Sunday but slipped in the weekdays with poor response, posting the first week total to Rs 55.05 crore.
The biopic drama dropped on its second Friday due to the new releases with Rs 1.66 crore but grew well on Saturday with Rs 2.44 crore. As per early trade estimates, the biopic drama grew further on Sunday with Rs 3.15 crore, bringing the first 10 days total to around 62 crore. The budget of historical drama is estimated to be Rs 200 crore and has been released in close to 5000 screens across the globe.
The second big release of the week is Major which chronicles the life and story of the brave soldier Sandeep Unnikrshnan showed a healthy total of Rs 32.19 crore in all languages in first week. The biopic drama did fall on 2nd Friday with Rs 97 lakhs but bounced with Rs 1.72 crore on Saturday and Rs 2 crore on Sunday, bringing the overall total to Rs 36.88 crore. The budget to be estimated at Rs 30 crore.

The action thriller, Vikram, starring Kamal Hassan did exceptional business in all languages in its first week with Rs 143.95 crore. It held well on 2nd Friday with Rs 7.95 crore while Saturday was outstanding with Rs 13.5 crore while Sunday was even better with Rs 14 crore, bringing the overall total to Rs 179.40 crore, making it the highest grossing film of 2022.
The budget of Vikram is Rs 150 crore and also stars two supremely talented Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil.
