Anu Malik, though reused some of the tunes from Ilayaraja from the Tamil hits, composed some of beautiful songs like “Payalay Chunmun” , “Tare Hain Barati”, “Ek Tha Raja” and “Dhol Bajne Laga”. The scene between Amrish Puri and Anil Kapoor from the film where he tries to convince Anil Kapoor to stay back and improve the condition of the village is probably one of the best scenes in the history of Indian cinema. The movie opened slow but picked up well and turned out to be “Super-Hit” at the box office.
