On the special occasion of Republic Day, there were four significant movies released – Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Rishi Kapoor starrer Agneepath, Salman Khan, Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia, Juhi Chawla, John Abraham and Vidya Balan starrer Salaam-E-Ishq, Aamir Khan starrer Rang De Basanti and Shekhar Kapur directed Bandit Queen, were released.

When you are remaking a classic like Agneepath, plenty of comparisons will definitely arise. Was the new Agneepath on par with the classic Amitabh Bachchan starrer which was released in 1990. It was close but certainly not quite up there. However, the Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer opened to a massive response on Republic Day, collecting a staggering Rs 120 crore against a budget of Rs 71 crore.

Salaam-E-Ishq -2007

A remake of British film, Love ActuallySalaam-E-Ishq carried mammoth expectations considering Nikhil Advani (he made Kal Ho Na Ho previously), huge budget, popular star cast and very expensive production values. What it lacked was the content.

Though the film opened to solid response but tanked without a trace. Salaam-E-Ishq collected just Rs 23 crore against a budget of Rs 44 crore and failed miserably at the box office.

Spider Man No Way Home Regains The No.1 Spot From The Rival Scream

A powerful script, solid-punching story-line, electrifying performances, award-winning music and enduring direction sums up Rang De Basanti which was welcomed with applauds, praise and appreciation by one and all on Republic Day. The Aamir Khan, R.Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, Shraman Joshi, Siddharth and Soha Ali Khan starrer Rang De Basanti opened to a favorable response, collecting Rs 53 crore against a budget of Rs 28 crore. Directed by Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, music composed by A.R.Rahman and lyrics written by Prasoon Joshi, Rang De Basanti turned out to be “Super-Hit” at the box office.

Bangarraju 2nd Monday Box Office – Shows A Solid Hold

Probably one of the most controversial movie of Indian cinema, Bandit Queen was bold and yet beautiful thanks to fantastic direction by Shekhar Kapur and beautifully lead character role played by Seema Biswas. Thanks to the controversy created, the hard-hitting drama collected a very good Rs 14.09 crore against a budget of Rs 3.25 crore.
