There were four significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Street Dancer 3D, Panga, Jai Ho and Dum. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.
Pushpa Box Office Update -This Is The New Milestone Allu Arjun’s Smash Hit Has Achieved All Over World
Coming fresh from the blockbuster debut of Ram Gopal Varma’s Company and Shaad Ali’s Saathiya, Vivek Oberoi was still a famous among the cine goers. Dum had the right intention but unfortunately, the screenplay played the spoiled-sport and movie turned out to be flop at the box office, minting Rs 5.03 crore against a budget of Rs 7.75 crore.
Jai Ho (2014)
Jai Ho was directed by Sohail Khan who gave us cheerful Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and duds like Auzaar and Hello Brother. Direction-wise Sohail Khan do gives you some good moments but still has long way to go. Screenplay is like a roller coaster ride. Art direction and cinematography is decent. Dialogues are punching. Music by Sajid-Wajid is a big letdown. Performance wise, it is Salman Khan all the way. He emotes well, spurts out fiery dialogues and is excellent in action scenes. Among the crowd, Tabu stands out with her brilliant performance as Salman’s sister.
However, the film under-performed at the box office but still turned out to “Hit”, collecting Rs 117.20 crore against a budget of Rs 65 crore.
Kangana Ranaut is back with yet another performance driven film, Panga, after two mind-blowing performances last year – Manikarnika-The Queen Of Jhansi and Judgementall Hai Kya, and accompanying her is Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, who directed magnificent films like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi. Obviously, audience has high expectations from the sports drama, Panga which opened to rave reviews but could not do well at the box office, collecting Rs 27.34 crore against a budget of Rs 49 crore.
Street Dancer 3D (2020)
Street Dancer 3D was a crucial film for two people – Remo D’Souza who has to prove himself after the disastrous Race 3 at the box office and Varun Dhawan who needs to deliver hit after giving flop in form of Kalank.
Follow up to sequels ABCD and ABCD 2, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Street Danceropened well at the box office but due to poor reviews, could not do well at the box office, collecting just Rs 74.22 crore against a budget of Rs 100 crore.
