Equipped with exceptional reviews, Jai Bhim had made it to the Golden Globe official entry list earlier in the “Best Non-English Language Film” category.
The Golden Globe awards kicks off the season of awards in Hollywood which eventually ends with the Oscar. Jai Bhim beat the other Tamil movie , Koozhangal, an indie movie directed by PS Vinoth Raj, for the Golden Globe race. Ever since its release on 1st November 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, Jai Bhim had garnered stellar reviews for its impeccable direction, electrifying performances and beautiful message. Unfortunately, the court-drama got involved in the controversy as the movie focuses on caste preference and and ill-treatment depicted by police.
Now, the court-room drama has been featured on the official YouTube channel of the Oscars and will be the first Indian film to be featured on the Oscars official You tube channel.
Jai Bhim is based on 1995 Habeas Corpus petition in which human right activist cum lawyer K. Chandru ( played by Suriya ), who takes up the case of Irular tribe couple (Rajakannu and Sengeni) where the husband is wrongly convicted by local police for stealing ornaments from village head’s house.
Jai Bhim is directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by 2D Entertainment. The court-room drama will premier on Amazon Prime Video from 2nd November onward.
