Controversy’s favourite child and “darling of masses”, Salman Khan, proved his naysayers that he could act and emote expressions with Bajrangi Bhaijaan that tells a story of a Hanuman-devotee re-uniting a Pakistani six-year old girl to her parents and ensuring she reaches her home. Directed by Kabir Khan, who earlier made the memorable film New York and Kabul Express, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, released in EID 2015, was an instant blockbuster managing to break Salman’s own record of KICK (83.38 crores) released in 2014 with highest weekend collections and highest single day collection for a Hindi language film. This might be also be the first time that a film does not rest on only on superstar’s shoulders but rest of the cast. Yes, we are talking about Nawazuddin Siddique and not Salman Khan. He played the real-life TV Pakistani reporter Chaand Nawab and will tickle your funny bone with funny acts.
Well-executed in terms of direction, commendable performances by Harshaali Malhotra (Munni), Kareena Kapoor, Sharat Saxena and Om Puri , Bajrangi Bhaijaan had right entertainment potion from the beginning till the end. Bajrangi Bhaijaan opened to Rs 27.25 crore on its first day and went on to collect Rs 184.62 crore in first week. Released in 4100 screens, Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 320.34 crore against a budget of Rs 90 crore, turning out to be “All-Time Blockbuster” at the box office.
