Sooryavanshi, starring the superstar Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif has finally hit the theaters after a gap of 18 long months and the big budgeted Rohit Shetty’s cop universe has cheered up audience during the Diwali festival this year. The cop drama went on to become the 2nd highest opening film with Rs 26.29 crore for Akshay Kumar after Mission Mangal which opened to Rs 29.16 crore in 2019 during the Independence Day week.

On the second day, the cop action drama held well on to its position and dropped by only 10% which is excellent considering Friday was Diwali, on Saturday, the Karan Johar produced film earned Rs 23.85 crore. The earnings shot up on Sunday and minted Rs 26.94 crore while Monday was outstanding with a small drop and collections of Rs 14.51 crore. Sooryavanshi held well again on its first Tuesday and collected somewhere between Rs 11.22 crore, bringing the first 5 days collections to Rs 102.50 crore.
Mission Mangal fell on its the fifth day as it was the first weekday after 4 days extended weekend when the movie collected a staggering Rs 8.91 crore, bringing the five days collections to Rs 106.47 crore. The budget of Mission Mangal was Rs 40 crore.
Sooryavanshi has been released in 3519 screens across India while the budget is estimated to be around Rs 165 crore (Production Cost: 150 Crore & Prints and Advertising cost: 15 Crores).
