There were four significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – . Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, Shakti, Lunchbox and Welcome To Sajjanpur. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.
Chal Mera Putt 2 Box Office – Becomes The Highest Grossing Punjabi Film in Overseas
Shakti (2002)
Hollywood 1st Weekend Box Office – Free Guy Beats Don’t Breath 2
Backed by high production values, big star cast including Nana Patekar, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan (special appearance), Shakti was a remake of Telugu film Anthapuram. Unfortunately, the powerful drama was violent for the Hindi audience. As a result, Shakti flopped at the box office collecting Rs 8.47 crore against a budget of Rs 10 crore.
Welcome To Sajjanpur (2008)
Bell Bottom 4th Week Box Office – Akshay Kumar Starrer Does Well
Now this one is probably one of the under-rated comedy film which got forgotten. Given the chance, make sure you watch this as the Shyam Benegal directed Welcome To Sajjanpur was the surprise hit at the box office, collecting Rs 10 crore against a budget of Rs 9 crore.
Phata Poster Nikhla Hero (2013)
Hollywood Box Office Report – F9 Is Decent, Shang Chi Is Superb
When a name like Rajkumar Santoshi along with Shahid Kapoor is attached, you expect something big. After a huge success of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani, Rajkumar Santoshi made another comedy drama but was not in form with Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. Also starring Ileana D’ Cruz, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero collected Rs 38.42 crore against a budget of Rs 47 crore.
Lunchbox (2013)
Though Lunchbox clashed with much popular Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, the Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat Kaur suprisingly did decent business as the drama slowly and steadily collected Rs 20 crore against a budget of Rs 22 crore.
