After the success of Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, audience were expecting from the Khan brothers – Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail. However, not only Hello Brother was a commercial failure but even panned by critics for toilet-jokes and bad acting. Even the superb music by Sajid Wajid could not help comedy drama from being a “flop” at the box office. The comedy drama minted Rs 10.67 crore against a budget of Rs 9 crore.

This Day That Year Box Office : When Baar Baar Dekho, Freaky Ali, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan And Salaam Namaste Were Released On 9th September

Based on Bapsi Sidhwa’s novel, Cracking India, 1947 Earth was the second installment of Mehta’s Elements trilogy, preceded by Fire (1996) and followed by Water (2005). 1947 Earth was India’s entry for the 1999 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Brilliant direction and brilliant performances by the star cast, especially Aamir Khan, who played the negative role did not turn into a good box office numbers. The movie collected Rs 3.79 crore against a budget of Rs 4.75 crore was declared a “flop” at the box office.
