Mumbai is often known as ‘City of Dreams’, and every year hundreds of new people come to the city for education and jobs, and these people need homes to stay, but the rent in Mumbai is not something everyone can afford.
Recently, a post on social media platform X by the user named Utkarsh Gupta has sparked a debate on the internet about the affordability of living in Mumbai. In the post, he posted photo of a washing machine positioned above the commode in the little washroom. He was so surprised by this design that he decided to share it with the world. He added the caption, “Only in Mumbai, you can front load your washing machine while top loading your commode. At an affordable price of 1.35L per month!”

This apartment, located in one of the most posh and sophisticated areas, Pali Hill, was a 2 BHK flat. But what is more surprising is the rent of that apartment which is Rs. 1.35 lakh per month, along with a security deposit of Rs. 4 lakh and Rs. 1.4 lakh as brokerage.
The apartment was listed on an online house hunting app and is on the fourth floor of an eight storey building and covers an area of 850 square feet. The apartment was advertised as having an “affordable rent in Mumbai.”
