Trending rising in the price of tomatoes has left netizens tensed in some parts of India and now big brand like Mcdonalds' has dropped vegetable from their menu, here’s why.

In Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and other south and north states of India are recently facing heavy rainfalls and floods due to which the damage in crops is every time loss. And this year, the shortage supply of a few essentials has become the reason for an increase in price.

Tomatoes! Regular prices like 40-50 are now being sold at the whopping amount of Rs 200 per kg in certain parts of India and it became very hard for the citizens. Because the vegetable is consumed on a regular basis and in every meal of Indian households, which has wreaked havoc on wallets, in kitchens, and even on the streets.

Considering the situation, a big fast food brand like Mcdonald's made news not for adding a new dish but for dropping tomatoes from its menu. In their outlets of Northern and Eastern parts of India.

It cited the unavailability of quality tomatoes due to bad weather conditions that faced shortage in the market and mismatch between demand and supply. Adding on, the government has said that the problem of rising in prices are temporary and it will slowly decrease in the coming months. 

Also, some parts of Indian states have started selling tomatoes at reduced prices at government-run or farmer-backed outlets to help consumers and on 30 June, the Indian government launched a Tomato Grand Challenge Hackathon in Delhi to encourage the public to share ideas to combat the escalating prices.
