Undeniably one of the greatest footballers of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo stands as one of the most cherished players in football history. Now playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo has dominated the football world for over one decade by continually competing with Lionel Messi for the top honors.
The rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi has sparked an ongoing debate, with fans split on who the best player is. For the very 1st time, Ronaldo himself has acknowledged that some people might prefer Messi or even other football legends like Pele and Maradona.
Ronaldo has no issue accepting that some may favor Messi, but he strongly disagrees with anyone claiming he isn't a "complete footballer."
"I think I'm the most complete football player that has ever existed. People could like Messi, Maradona or Pele, and I respect it, but I'm the most complete.
"I'm the best player in football history. I haven't seen anyone better than me in football history and I'm saying truth from my heart," Ronaldo stated in an interview with Spanish media outlet, LaSexta TV.
Ronaldo also opened up that he and Messi never had a 'bad relationship' over the 15 years they dominated the football scene.
"I've never had a bad relationship with Messi. We've shared 15 years of awards, and we've always gotten along well. I remember that I used to translate English for him, and it was very funny," said Cristiano.
"He defended his club and I mine, and his national team and I mine. I think we gave each other feedback. There were years when he wanted to play everything, and so did I. It was a healthy fight," the Portuguese legend added further.
