Lionel Messi To Visit Kerela Next Year

Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman announced on Wednesday that the Argentina football team, featuring Lionel Messi, will visit Kerala next year for an international match.

Speaking at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, the minister said the state government would fully oversee the match. Addressing this the minister said, " All the financial assistance for organising this high-profile football event will be provided by the merchants of the state."

Messi last played in India in 2011 during an international friendly match between Argentina and Venezuela, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Lionel Messi, a global football star, has a huge fan base in India, a country where cricket is more popular. In Kerala, his fans are especially passionate, as football has always been close to the hearts of the people.
