The Indian cricket team showcased an aggressive batting approach on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. With over two and a half days lost to rain, Rohit Sharma's side scored 285 for 9 in just 34.4 overs, achieving an impressive run rate of 8.22 in a Test match. Before the day's play concluded, India declared their innings and dismissed two Bangladeshi batsmen, positioning themselves for a potential result in the match.

While Rohit Sharma and his team received acclaim for their strategy, bowling coach Morne Morkel later shared insights into head coach Gautam Gambhir's perspective. At the press conference after Day 4's play, Morkel mentioned that Gambhir emphasized the importance of advancing the game quickly. The players executed the coach’s game plan effectively.

"From GG's (Gautam Gambhir) standpoint, we agreed to push the game forward as swiftly as possible, and you need a leader to set that tone. Rohit has demonstrated this many times, and he did so again today. To hit a six off the first ball on a pitch with unpredictable bounce, where the new ball's behavior might be uncertain, is commendable. As a bowling unit, one could easily fall back. It was fantastic to see the captain take charge," Morkel stated while addressing the media on Monday.
