"Ring Of Fire" Solar Eclipse Not Be Visible In India? Know The Reason

Among the many lunar eclipses, an annular solar eclipse will occur on October 2. This type of eclipse is visible only from certain parts of the world. During an annular eclipse, the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, creating a "ring of fire" effect around the moon.

Sadly, the maximum eclipse of the annular solar eclipse on October 3, 2024, will occur at 12:15 AM Indian time, but it won't be visible anywhere in the country since it takes place at night.

The annular solar eclipse will start on October 2 at 7:12 PM IST and end on October 3 at 3:17 AM IST, lasting a little over six hours in total.

What does Annular Eclipse mean ?

When the moon moves between the sun and the Earth, it creates a solar eclipse. Since the moon is much smaller than the sun, even when it completely covers the sun—especially when it's farther away from the Earth—the outer edge of the sun remains visible, creating a "ring of fire" effect around the moon. This is why it's called that. If the moon fully covers the sun, it’s known as a total solar eclipse. The next solar eclipse won’t happen until 2026.

The full annular solar eclipse will be visible in countries like Argentina and Chile, while a partial solar eclipse can be seen in places like the United States, Mexico, New Zealand, Brazil, the Falkland Islands, and Uruguay. Additionally, there’s an interesting connection between lunar and solar eclipses: a solar eclipse occurs either right before or about two weeks after a lunar eclipse.
